Juvenile seriously injured, 9 others hurt in Hunterdon County crash, state police say

BETHLEHEM TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A juvenile was seriously injured and nine other people suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Route 173 in Hunterdon County, according to New Jersey State Police.

Troopers responded to the crash at 4:34 p.m. on State Highway 173 west near milepost 7.8 in Bethlehem Township, NJSP spokesman Trooper II Christopher Postorino said.

A preliminary investigation found that a Kia passenger vehicle was traveling west on Route 173 as a Jeep SUV was making a right turn onto the westbound highway, Postorino said.

The front of the Kia struck the rear driver’s side of the Jeep, according to state police.

A juvenile who was riding in the rear seat of the Jeep suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital, Postorino said.

The Jeep’s driver and six other passengers suffered minor injuries and were also taken to an area hospital.

The driver and a passenger in the Kia suffered minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital, according to state police.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information was available, Postorino said.
