RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A national traveling memorial honoring U.S. service members who died during the Global War on Terrorism will be displayed at County College of Morris for three days in September.
The “Remembering Our Fallen” memorial will be open to the public Sept. 25-27 at the college, 214 Center Grove Road in Randolph. Admission is free, and registration is not required.
The exhibit features photographs and biographical information about service members who died during the Global War on Terrorism, putting faces and personal stories to those who lost their lives while serving.
The memorial is being brought to Morris County by the NJ SOS Veteran Stakeholders Group in partnership with the New Jersey Department of Veterans Affairs, New Jersey Department of Military Affairs, Catholic Charities Diocese of Paterson, Welcome Home Vets of New Jersey and County College of Morris.
“This memorial is not just a display — it is a sacred space where our community can come together to remember and honor those who gave everything for our freedom,” said A.J. Luna, Program Manager of the NJ SOS Veteran Stakeholders Group. “We are honored to bring Remembering Our Fallen to Morris County and invite every resident of New Jersey to come and bear witness to the courage and sacrifice of our fallen heroes.”
The memorial is scheduled to arrive at County College of Morris on Sept. 24, when local officials, veterans organizations and community partners are expected to participate in a welcoming ceremony.
Public viewing will begin at 11 a.m. Sept. 25 and continue until 9 p.m. The exhibit will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 26 and Sept. 27.
Additional ceremonies honoring fallen service members are planned during the three-day event, with details to be announced by the NJ SOS Veteran Stakeholders Group.
Organizers said the exhibit is intended to give veterans, military families, students and other members of the community an opportunity to remember those who died and reflect on the impact of the Global War on Terrorism.
The NJ SOS Veteran Stakeholders Group also works throughout the year to assist veterans, including providing emergency housing assistance to homeless veterans, coordinating meetings among veteran service providers and organizing community events.
County College of Morris’ Veterans Resource Center works with Morris County, the state and other organizations to provide services to veterans, their families and military-connected students.
