Sprawling 282-acre Sussex County estate owned by former TV host Lou Dobbs listed for $6 million
WANTAGE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) — A sprawling Sussex County estate owned by the late television and radio personality Lou Dobbs has been listed for sale for $6 million.
Hickory Hollow Farm, located at 112 Quarry Road in Wantage Township, encompasses 282.72 acres and includes a five-bedroom, four-bathroom main residence, equestrian facilities, a guest house, caretaker’s residence and an approximately 11-acre spring-fed pond, according to the real estate listing.
The 5,419-square-foot colonial-style main residence was built in 1977 and includes a gourmet kitchen, private office, sunroom, family room with a double-sided fireplace and walls of windows overlooking the pond and pastures. Two bedrooms are located on the first floor, while the second floor includes the primary suite, two additional bedrooms and flexible living space.
The property also features a four-car garage, heated in-ground Gunite pool, tennis court and half basketball court.
Hickory Hollow Farm includes extensive equestrian facilities. The main barn has 11 large stalls, a wash area, feed room, hay room and loft and is connected to a sand riding ring. A second barn contains three oversized stalls.
The property also has 17 grass paddocks with turnout sheds, a 150-by-200-foot fenced riding arena and an equipment garage, according to the listing.
Additional living accommodations include a two-bedroom, two-bathroom guest house and a two-bedroom, one-bathroom caretaker’s residence.
The property includes wooded areas, a stream and mountain views. It is served by a private well and septic system and uses propane gas.
The estate was listed for sale April 13 at $6 million, or about $1,107 per square foot, according to the listing. Annual property taxes are listed at approximately $37,000.
Dobbs, a longtime television and radio host who was best known for his work at CNN and Fox Business, owned Hickory Hollow Farm. He died in 2024 at age 78.
