RARITAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Hunterdon County will host an informational meeting later this month to help municipal officials learn more about planning, infrastructure, environmental and legal issues associated with data center development.
The county Department of Planning and Land Use will hold the Data Center Informational Meeting from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at the Hunterdon County Complex, Building 1, Assembly Room, 314 Route 12 in Raritan Township.
The Breakfast Talk will bring together experts to discuss data center development, regional planning considerations, infrastructure needs, environmental impacts and legal and regulatory issues municipalities may encounter when evaluating potential projects.
Confirmed speakers include representatives from the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission and Delaware River Basin Commission, along with attorney Jason Gray of Greenbaum Law.
“Data centers are an emerging land use that municipal officials throughout New Jersey are increasingly being asked to understand and evaluate,” said Hunterdon County Commissioner Deputy Director Jeff Kuhl. “Our goal is to provide local leaders with access to knowledgeable professionals who can help explain the planning, infrastructure, environmental, and legal considerations surrounding these facilities so municipalities can be better informed as they address these issues locally.”
Kuhl said the program is part of the county’s continuing effort to provide municipalities with information and resources on emerging planning and land-use issues. The county Planning Board’s responsibilities include encouraging municipal cooperation on issues of regional concern and reviewing subdivision and site plan applications.
