LONG HILL TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Firefighters prevented a vehicle fire from spreading to a nearby home in Long Hill Township late Saturday night, according to Stirling Fire Company No. 1.
Stirling and Millington fire companies, along with the Long Hill First Aid Squad, were dispatched at 10:46 p.m. to the 400 block of Elm Street for a reported vehicle fire.
Long Hill Township police arrived within two minutes, confirmed the vehicle was on fire and alerted responding firefighters that the flames could potentially spread to the nearby residence.
Stirling firefighters arrived first and quickly began extinguishing the fire. Millington firefighters arrived shortly afterward and established a water supply.
Additional Stirling firefighters checked the residence for any extension of the fire and conducted a primary search.
The fire was contained to the vehicle, with no extension into the home and no reported injuries, according to the fire company.
The fire was declared under control within 20 minutes of the initial dispatch.
