Sussex County opens public portal for input on opioid settlement funds
SUSSEX COUNTY, N.J. — Sussex County opened an online portal Thursday seeking public input on how the county should use its share of national opioid settlement funds.
The portal opened Oct. 1 and will remain available for public comment through Oct. 22.
County officials are seeking feedback from residents, families, organizations and people with lived experience about how the settlement money should be invested to address the effects of the opioid crisis.
The county said the portal is intended to give community members an opportunity to help shape its response to the crisis and identify ways the funding could be used to protect people still affected by opioid use.
Sussex County is expected to receive opioid settlement funding over the next several years. The money must be used for opioid abatement strategies outlined by the state of New Jersey.
The public can submit comments through the county’s online opioid settlement fund portal through Oct. 22.
