Hackettstown’s annual ‘Spook’ the House Halloween home decorating contest returns

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — The Hackettstown Police Department, Town of Hackettstown and Hackettstown Business Improvement District are once again teaming up for the annual “Spook” the House Halloween decorating contest.

Participants are encouraged to show off their spooky spirit by decorating their homes with original and spookiest outdoor decorations.

One winner will be selected from each of five sections of town: the Willow Grove area, Centenary area, West Valley View/East Prospect area, Mitchell Road area and College View area. Winners will receive prizes and bragging rights.

Homes should be decorated by Oct. 26. Judging will take place Oct. 27 and 28 as police officers patrol neighborhoods, with winners notified Oct. 29.

No registration is required to participate in the contest.

Jay Edwards

Born and raised in Northwest NJ, Jay has a degree in Communications and has had a life-long interest in local radio and various styles of music. Jay has held numerous jobs over the years such as stunt car driver, bartender, voice-over artist, traffic reporter (award winning), NY Yankee maintenance crewmember and peanut farm worker. His hobbies include mountain climbing, snowmobiling, cooking, performing stand-up comedy and he is an avid squirrel watcher.
