Hunterdon County to hold ‘Mr. Fix-It’ appliance repair day for seniors Oct. 23
RARITAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Hunterdon County residents age 60 and older can bring small household appliances in need of repair to the county’s Mr. Fix-It Fall Appliance Day on Friday, Oct. 23.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Hunterdon County Senior Center, 4 Gauntt Place in Raritan Township.
Skilled volunteer technicians will be available to assess and repair small household appliances while participants wait. Labor will be provided at no cost, although a small fee may be charged for necessary replacement parts.
“As liaison to the Department of Human Services, I’m proud to highlight programs like Mr. Fix-It that provide practical, hands-on support to our senior residents,” said Commissioner Van Doren. “This event is about more than repairing appliances. It helps residents maintain their independence, address everyday household needs, and stay connected with others in the community.”
Donations to support the program will also be accepted, and light refreshments will be available during the event.
The Mr. Fix-It Program is a volunteer-driven Hunterdon County initiative designed to help older adults remain safely and independently in their homes as they age.
Volunteers assist with minor home maintenance and repairs, helping address everyday issues that could affect a person’s safety, comfort or quality of life if left unresolved.
Fall Appliance Day is one of several opportunities offered throughout the year for Hunterdon County seniors to access Mr. Fix-It services in a community setting.
Additional information about the Mr. Fix-It Program and opportunities to volunteer are available through Hunterdon County.
