Police said officers observed an open 24-ounce can of beer in the driver’s door cupholder and a bag containing empty beer cans on the passenger seat.

While speaking with Rockwell, officers noticed that he was swaying and had slurred and slowed speech, police said.

Rockwell was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests and allegedly displayed multiple signs of impairment during the testing.

He was subsequently arrested and transported to Hackettstown Police Headquarters for processing.

Rockwell was charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. He was later released to a responsible adult pending a court appearance.
