Animal organs found in trash bag at Morris County car wash; no human remains

EAST HANOVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Authorities are investigating the discovery of animal organs found in a trash can at a car wash in East Hanover Township on Tuesday morning, police said.

According to East Hanover Township Police Chief Christopher F. Cannizzo, officers responded at approximately 9:33 a.m. on July 29 to a report of a suspicious garbage bag at The Finish Line Car Wash, located at 84 Route 10.

An investigation was conducted by the East Hanover Township Police Department in coordination with the Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office. The contents of the bag were determined to be animal organs, and no human remains were found.

“The investigation is still active into the origin of the contents,” Chief Cannizzo said in a statement.

He thanked the Morris County Sheriff’s Department, the Medical Examiner, and Crime Scene Investigators for their assistance in confirming that the remains were animal in origin.
