ArcMorris recipient of Lowe’s 100 hometowns project
Projects will improve vital community spaces and address critical needs including veterans services, safe and affordable housing, and food insecurity
PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, NJ (Morris County) – Morris County-based ArcMorris has been selected as part of the 2024 Lowe’s Hometowns program, a five-year, $100 million commitment to rebuild and revitalize community spaces nationwide.
Since launching in 2022, the signature grant program has renovated 149 community centers, affordable housing facilities, shelters and food pantries; refurbished 15 first responder and veteran/military family facilities; and built and improved 54 community gardens, parks and playgrounds – among many other impactful projects.
As one of 100 community projects in 2024 that make up this year’s grant recipients, the Lowe’s Hometowns grant will benefit the current and future residents of ArcMorris’ Supervised Apartments, which provide independent living to individuals with disabilities in Morris County, with the appropriate supervision necessary for success.
Individuals residing in these apartment units have their own private apartment, restroom, and kitchenette, but also benefit from 24-hour on-site staff support, transportation to and from community activities including employment, and a weekly schedule of activities they may participate in if they so choose.
The Morristownship Supervised Apartments are one of several ArcMorris properties scheduled for renovations and upgrades that will improve the quality of life for current and future residents.
This facility has been utilized by ArcMorris to provide residential support services to 15 individuals with IDD in Morris County since 1993. In its 30-years of operation, the facilities have never been properly upgraded due to lack of funding, as result, they have declined.
Funding available to ArcMorris for residential support services is subject to significant limitations, and may not be utilized to maintain, upgrade, or perform repairs. As such, this grant is incredibly important to us to complete the work proposed to upgrade the property that is a home to our community members. Volunteers from Lowe’s will support the project as well.
This year’s Lowe’s Hometowns projects benefit 87 communities across 44 states and Washington, D.C., and will address needs specific to each community, from housing and community centers to outdoor spaces and facilities for first responders and veterans.
Each project will receive a grant from Lowe’s to make physical improvements that help local organizations continue to make meaningful impact in their communities. At the core of this commitment are Lowe’s red vest associates, who share a passion for giving back to their communities and provide support to every Lowe’s Hometowns project.
