Woman charged with DWI after driving wrong way on Route 46 in Morris County, police say

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Morris County woman was arrested after allegedly driving the wrong way on Route 46 in Denville Township while intoxicated, police said.

Officers observed a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction of traffic on Route 46 West on April 11 and initiated an investigation, according to authorities.

The driver, identified as Lidia Alvarez-Torrentera, 47, of Denville Township showed signs of intoxication during the encounter, police said.

Alvarez-Torrentera was taken into custody and transported to Denville Township police headquarters for processing.

She was charged with operating under the influence of liquor or drugs, wrong way on a one-way street, careless driving and reckless driving.

Alvarez-Torrentera was released on her own recognizance pending a future court appearance.
