Assemblywoman Aura Dunn named Legislator of the Year by New Jersey Conference of Mayors

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (Atlantic County) — The New Jersey Conference of Mayors honored Assemblywoman Aura Dunn with its Legislator of the Year Award during the organization’s annual spring convention Thursday in Atlantic City.

Dunn, a Republican representing the 25th Legislative District, was recognized for her work with municipal leaders and efforts to strengthen local communities across New Jersey.

“This award reflects the value I have placed on partnerships with leaders at the local level who have an unmatched understanding of the challenges facing the communities we serve,” Dunn (R-Morris) said. “State lawmakers and mayors best serve the residents we represent when we collectively find solutions to municipal issues. I am grateful for their continued support and collaboration, and their recognition of my efforts to give all levels of government a seat at the decision-making table.”

According to the New Jersey Conference of Mayors, Dunn’s collaborative approach and willingness to work across party lines have helped foster partnerships that strengthen local government and support effective policymaking.

In a letter informing Dunn of the award, the organization stated that she “has consistently worked to advance fiscally responsible policies, support local economic growth, and address practical challenges faced by mayors and their communities.”

Dunn has organized annual meetings at her district office in Morristown that bring together mayors from Morris and Passaic counties along with representatives from state agencies to discuss issues affecting municipalities.

Topics at the bipartisan workshop sessions have included affordable housing, small business loans and grant opportunities, veteran benefits and access to state resources.

Dunn has served in the New Jersey General Assembly since 2019 and represents parts of Morris and Passaic counties.
