Atlantic Health announces leadership changes at CentraState and Chilton medical centers
NEW JERSEY — Atlantic Health announced leadership changes Thursday affecting Atlantic Health CentraState Medical Center and Atlantic Health Chilton Medical Center following the resignation of longtime CentraState Healthcare System leader Tom Scott.
Atlantic Health said Maureen Schneider, senior vice president of Atlantic Health and president of Atlantic Health Chilton Medical Center, will transition to serve as interim president and CEO of Atlantic Health CentraState Medical Center.
Stephanie Schwartz, senior vice president and president of Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center, will also take on the additional role of interim president of Atlantic Health Chilton Medical Center, a position she previously held.
The appointments follow Scott’s departure after more than a decade leading CentraState Healthcare System. CentraState became part of Atlantic Health through a strategic co-membership agreement that took effect Jan. 1, 2022.
Schneider has served on CentraState Healthcare System’s Board of Trustees since 2022 and will focus on maintaining leadership continuity at the Freehold Township-based medical center, Atlantic Health officials said.
“Maureen Schneider brings to Atlantic Health CentraState not only the passion and vision she has exemplified since joining Atlantic Health but valued institutional knowledge about this distinctive community hospital. Similarly, Stephanie Schwartz, who previously served as president of Atlantic Health Chilton Medical Center is experiencing a homecoming as she deftly plays double duty,” said Saad Ehtisham, president and CEO of Atlantic Health. “Their commitment to a seamless leadership transition that prioritizes patient care and the well-being and engagement of our team members deserves high praise.”
Schneider joined Atlantic Health in 2014 as chief nurse and operations officer at Chilton Medical Center. She became president of the medical center in 2022 and helped lead the hospital through multiple clinical and quality-care achievements, including Magnet Accreditation Recognition for Nursing Excellence during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
She holds nursing degrees from Hunter College-Bellevue School of Nursing, an MBA from Monmouth University and a doctorate from Seton Hall University.
Schwartz became president of Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center in 2021 after previously serving as president of Chilton Medical Center.
Before joining Atlantic Health, Schwartz held leadership roles at Southern Ocean County Hospital in Manahawkin, Community Medical Center in Toms River and hospitals in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
