Maverick’s Legacy Spring Festival returns May 9 at Sussex County Fairgrounds

AUGUSTA, N.J. (Sussex County) — Maverick’s Legacy will host its fourth annual Spring Festival next month at the Sussex County Fairgrounds, offering a day of family-friendly activities while supporting a life-saving cause.

The event is scheduled for May 9 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 37 Plains Road in Augusta. Admission is free.

Organizers said the festival will feature more than 100 vendors and crafters, along with a Kids Fun Barn, food trucks, live music and a car show hosted by the Lost in Time Car Club.

Attendees can also take part in raffles, including a $10,000 50/50 drawing and additional prize giveaways.

“This festival honors Maverick and helps save lives; every dollar raised helps us put life-saving devices in the right hands,” said Darrin Chambers, co-founder of Maverick’s Legacy.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Maverick’s Legacy, a nonprofit organization founded in memory of the Chambers’ infant son, who died in 2022 after a choking incident. The group works to prevent choking-related deaths through awareness efforts, donations of airway clearance devices and support for families.

The organization has focused on providing LifeVac choking rescue devices to schools, daycares and first responders. Officials said the devices are used when standard choking protocols fail.

Since its founding, Maverick’s Legacy has donated thousands of devices and contributed to saving lives through its outreach efforts.

Additional information about the event is available on the organization’s website.
