Authorities seek suspect in Morris County bank robbery
BOONTON, N.J. (Morris County) — Authorities are seeking the public’s help identifying a man accused of robbing a Chase Bank in Boonton on Saturday afternoon.
Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, Boonton Police Chief Chris Petonak and Capt. Anthony LiMandri said law enforcement responded at about 1:57 p.m. June 27 to a report of a bank robbery at Chase Bank, 530 Myrtle Ave.
Investigators said a male suspect entered the bank wearing a ski mask, sunglasses and gloves while brandishing a pistol. The suspect demanded money and left the bank with about $12,000 in cash, authorities said.
The suspect then entered a nearby vehicle and fled the area, according to investigators. The vehicle is described as a gray or silver Honda Odyssey.

Authorities described the suspect as a white male believed to be in his 50s. He was wearing a black suit, black gloves and a dark-colored tie.
The investigation is being conducted by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, the Boonton Police Department and the FBI.
Authorities said that, contrary to erroneous social media reports, the suspect was not detained during a motor vehicle stop on Route 80.
Anyone with information, including home surveillance or dash camera footage, is asked to call the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit through the Morris County Communications Center at 973-285-2900 or the Boonton Police Department at 973-402-9371.
