Barn fire draws response from Somerset and Hunterdon county crews

HILLSBOROUGH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Somerset County) — Firefighters from Somerset and Hunterdon counties responded Saturday afternoon to a barn fire near the intersection of Amwell Road and Clover Hill Road in Hillsborough Township, authorities said.

The fire was reported at approximately 3:55 p.m., according to Hillsborough Township fire officials. Multiple fire units operated at the scene under a first-alarm assignment as crews worked to contain the blaze near the Somerset-Hunterdon county border.

Mutual aid companies from Hunterdon County assisted Hillsborough firefighters during the response because of the fire’s proximity to both counties, officials said.

Authorities advised motorists to use caution in the area while firefighters and emergency apparatus operated along the roadway.

No injuries were reported, and all responding units cleared the scene at about 6 p.m., officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Hillsborough Township Fire Marshal’s Office.
