RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — County College of Morris and Table of Hope will once again partner to provide backpacks filled with school supplies to Morris County students as part of their annual Backpack Giveaway later this month.
The sixth annual event is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 28, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in Parking Lot 1 at County College of Morris, 214 Center Grove Road, Randolph.
The giveaway is open to Morris County residents facing financial hardship. Families are encouraged to pre-register through Table of Hope. Backpacks, which also will include local produce, will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Participants must remain in their vehicles during the drive-through event, and walk-up distribution will not be available.
“At County College of Morris, we are proud to be the community’s college, and that means showing up for our neighbors in meaningful ways,” said Dr. Anthony J. Iacono, president of CCM. “Our partnership with Table of Hope, and the multiple organizations volunteering that day, demonstrates what can be accomplished when all of us unite around a common purpose. Together, we are helping children begin the school year with the supplies they need and providing valuable resources to our Morris County families.”
The Backpack Giveaway has been held annually for six years and is one of several community initiatives conducted through the partnership between CCM and Table of Hope. The organizations also host a Thanksgiving food distribution each November for Morris County families.
The event is supported by Table of Hope, state and local leaders, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, Alstede Farms, CCM employees, corporate sponsors, community organizations and volunteers, including CCM student-athletes and student leaders.
Founded in 2011, Table of Hope works to address food insecurity, educational support and other essential needs for Morris County families. Families interested in participating or learning more can register or obtain additional information through Table of Hope.
