Update: Wildfire in Morris County now 90% contained

ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – The New Jersey Forest Fire Service continues to manage the Microwave wildfire in the area of Jacobs Road in Rockaway Township, which has now burned approximately 77 acres and is reported to be 90% contained.

As of now, there are no structures threatened and no evacuations have been necessary. Jacobs Road remains closed to ensure safety and facilitate firefighting efforts.

Resources deployed to combat the fire include Forest Fire Service hand crews and engines. On Saturday afternoon, a helicopter capable of dropping 350 gallons of water made 15 drops to help control the flames.

The cause of the wildfire is currently under investigation.
