Christ Episcopal Church in Newton to celebrate All Souls’ Day with special musical service
NEWTON, N.J. (Sussex County) — Christ Episcopal Church in Newton will commemorate All Souls’ Day with a special musical service featuring Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 4 p.m.
The service will feature the church’s Senior Choir performing the seven-movement composition, accompanied by an orchestra and organist Diana Greene. Soprano Jessica Marquard Caruso and baritone Daniel Wallace will serve as featured soloists.
Fauré’s Requiem, a choral work scored for soprano and baritone soloists, mixed choir, orchestra and organ, will be incorporated into the service honoring and remembering those who have died.
“All Souls is an invitation to say ‘thank you’ to God for the people that have shaped us, formed us and inspired us. I am delighted that we at Christ Church can experience this holy day through Faure’s Requiem,” remarked the Reverend Chris Streeter, Rector, Christ Church Newton. “Requiem is one of the most beautiful choral works ever composed. I hope members of the wider Newton community will join us to hear this incredible piece of music offered by our exceptional choir and guest musicians.”
The service is free and open to the public, although a freewill offering will be collected.
Christ Episcopal Church is located at 62 Main St. in Newton.
