Congressman Kean names Korean War veteran, longtime Hackettstown firefighter Bruce Tynan as Hometown Hero
HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — U.S. Rep. Tom Kean Jr., R-N.J., has recognized longtime Hackettstown firefighter Bruce Tynan as his latest Hometown Hero, honoring his more than 70 years of service to the Hackettstown Fire Department, his military service and his dedication to the community.
Kean announced the recognition this week, highlighting Tynan’s service as a Korean War veteran with the U.S. Army’s 1st Cavalry Division and his seven decades as an active member of the Hackettstown Fire Department.
“This week I am pleased to honor Chief Bruce Tynan as our Hometown Hero,” Kean said. “A proud Korean War Veteran who served in the U.S. Army 1st Cavalry Division, Chief Tynan has dedicated more than seven decades to protecting and strengthening the Hackettstown community. As a 70-year active member of the Hackettstown Fire Department, he has embodied service, leadership, and commitment.”
Over the years, Tynan has served as treasurer emeritus of Cataract Hose Co. No. 1, treasurer of the Hackettstown Fireman’s Relief Association, fire marshal for the Town of Hackettstown and fire official for Washington Township.
Kean also recognized Tynan’s commitment to the community beyond the fire service, noting he served as grand marshal of the Hackettstown American Legion Memorial Day Parade.
“Chief Tynan has held numerous roles, including Treasurer Emeritus of Cataract Hose Co. No. 1, Treasurer of the Hackettstown Fireman’s Relief Association, Fire Marshal for the Town of Hackettstown, and Fire Official for Washington Township,” Kean said. “Chief Tynan’s dedication to civic pride also stems beyond emergency services, having been the Grand Marshal to the American Legion Memorial Day Parade. Thank you, Chief Tynan, for your steadfast dedication and lifelong service to the people of Hackettstown.”
