RANDOLPH TONWSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — County College of Morris (CCM) will host a free, interactive event Thursday, Nov. 19, offering students, adult learners and working professionals an opportunity to explore artificial intelligence and data science through hands-on workshops, career discussions and a special planetarium presentation.
The event, titled “AI and Data Science Night: Data Under the Stars,” will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the college’s Randolph campus, with check-in beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The program is open to students ages 15 and older, adult learners and working professionals interested in learning more about AI and data science, including potential career opportunities in the growing fields.
Attendees will participate in hands-on workshops led by CCM faculty and industry professionals. Topics will include natural language processing, machine learning, AI cybersecurity, Python programming, statistical analysis, data visualization, vibe-coding and agentic AI.
The event will also feature networking opportunities, a panel discussion with CCM students and alumni, and opportunities to connect with representatives from four-year universities about transferring after graduating from CCM.
Participants will also have an opportunity to experience “Data Under the Dome,” a presentation exploring the universe of data beneath the starry sky inside CCM’s Longo Planetarium.
In addition to the workshops, attendees can learn about the college’s AI and data science degree programs, short-term credentials, industry certification exams, apprenticeships and internships.
CCM offers a five-course Certificate of Achievement in Data Analytics, available on campus or fully online through its Virtual Campus. The college offers rolling admission to the program, and credits earned may be applied toward an Associate of Science degree in Data Science.
Representatives from CCM’s Center for Workforce Development will also be available to discuss noncredit training opportunities, including the Data Analytics and Visualization certificate and the AI and Data Science apprenticeship program.
The center offers additional courses designed to help individuals develop new career skills or advance in their current positions. Those courses include AI Essentials, AI for Business Professionals, Business Analytics with Excel, Microsoft Power BI, SQL for Data Management, Introduction to R Programming and Tableau.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of data scientists is projected to increase 35% from 2025 to 2035. The median annual wage for data scientists was $120,230 in May 2025.
No previous experience in artificial intelligence or data science is required to attend the event, but advance registration is mandatory.
