Dingmans Falls area closed for summer 2025 due to bridge and trail repairs

DELAWARE WATER GAP NATIONAL RECREATION AREA – The Dingmans Falls area—including access roads, the visitor center, and the trail system—is officially closed for Summer 2025 as construction crews begin a bridge replacement project over Dingmans Creek. The National Park Service anticipates the bridge work will be completed by the fall.

In tandem with the bridge construction, the park’s trail crew will conduct critical repairs to the staircase leading to the Dingmans Falls observation area. During construction, all traffic—including pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles—is strictly prohibited in the area.

While the Dingmans Falls Visitor Center is closed, the Bushkill Meeting Center (BMC), located on Route 209 in Lehman Township, will serve as the temporary visitor center for the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

Beginning May 23, BMC will be open Fridays through Mondays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., offering visitor information, park souvenirs, maps and books, NPS passport stamps, exhibits, Junior Ranger activity books, and more.

Several ranger-led programs previously held at Dingmans Falls will be relocated to George W. Childs Park, which reopened last year following extensive repairs. Visitors are encouraged to check the park’s website for the latest updates on visitor services and program schedules.

Separately, construction crews are also working on repairs to the bridge over Van Campens Brook on Old Mine Road in Hardwick Township, NJ, just south of Van Campens Glen. Although the road remains open, it will be limited to single-lane traffic during working hours, and visitors should expect delays. These repairs are also expected to be completed by the fall.
