Man charged with theft of copper wire from Mount Olive construction site

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Newark man was charged with theft after police said he was found in possession of copper wire reported missing from a construction site at the Mount Olive Township Senior Center.

Police responded at approximately 9:48 a.m. June 9 to the senior center construction site at 204 Flanders-Drakestown Road after receiving a report of a theft.

An electrical contractor told officers that copper wire was missing from the job site, according to police.

During the investigation, officers determined that another worker at the construction site, identified as Walter A. Urgileszuniga, 38, of Newark, was in possession of the wire, which had been placed inside his vehicle.

Urgileszuniga was arrested and transported to police headquarters.

He was charged with theft of movable property and released pending a court hearing, police said.
