Donaldson Farms reassures customers: Warren County landmark farm not for sale

MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — Donaldson Farms, a family-run agricultural business in Mansfield Township since 1906, is assuring the community that the farm is not for sale.

In a message posted this week, the farm thanked customers for their support and addressed concerns after parts of its property were designated by the state for potential affordable housing under municipal planning requirements.

“Whether you stop by to shop or just drive by, thank you for cherishing the scenic landscape that has been here since 1906,” the post read. “It’s due to the hard work and dedication of Lewis Donaldson (our Pop-Pop) and six generations of humble, bright, and incredibly strong farmers.”

Farm representatives emphasized that the designation does not mean the property is being sold or that operations are changing. “The farm is not for sale,” the post said. “The only change is that the state requires each municipality to designate areas for future affordable housing, so parts of Donaldson Farms have been assigned.”

The farm, which is approaching its 120th anniversary, credited its longevity to resilience and community support. “Farming is tough enough, and the resilient farmers of the Garden State continue to work hard and adapt. We appreciate your support — this is the perfect time to thank you for recognizing the effort behind it,” the post continued.

Donaldson Farms encouraged customers to continue shopping at its farm market, greenhouse and nursery, and wholesale operations. “Also, consider giving a shout-out to Lew and the crew as our 120th anniversary is just around the corner — Wow!” the message added.

The farm thanked the community for decades of loyalty and expressed optimism for the season ahead. “Thank you for supporting us and all family farms in New Jersey throughout the seasons. Here’s to another fabulous fall season ahead!” the post concluded.
