Driver airlifted to hospital after rear-ending parked box truck on shoulder of I-80 in Morris County

ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A driver was airlifted to the hospital after rear-ending a parked box truck on the shoulder of I-80 in Morris County early Monday morning, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron.

The crash occurred at around 2:56 a.m. on Interstate 80 westbound at milepost 33.1 in Rockaway Township, Lebron said.

Based on a preliminary investigation, a Mazda SUV driven by Brianna Mahoney, 28, from Kenvil, was traveling westbound on I-80 when it entered the right shoulder and impacted the rear of a parked and unoccupied International box truck, Lebron said.

As a result of the crash, Mahoney sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital, Lebron said.

The crash remains under investigation, Lebron stated.
