Driver killed after striking trees, overturning in Sussex County

WANTAGE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A New York man was killed Sunday afternoon after his vehicle hit trees and overturned in Sussex County, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron.

The crash occurred around 2:02 p.m. on the northbound side of Route 284, near milepost 7, in Wantage Township, Lebron said.

According to a preliminary investigation, a Chevrolet passenger vehicle driven by Andrew Slagle, 25, of Westtown, NY, was traveling northbound when it veered off the roadway, struck several trees, and overturned.

As a result of the crash, Slagle sustained fatal injuries, Lebron said.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available at this time, Lebron said.
