Mount Olive to auction historic 23-acre Flanders property in September
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Mount Olive Township will auction a historic 23.4-acre residential property in Flanders this fall, offering prospective buyers the opportunity to purchase a private estate that was once home to the historic Tarn Mill.
The public auction for 22 Bartley Road — formerly known as 5 Pondview Lane — is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the Mount Olive Township Municipal Building, 204 Flanders-Drakestown Road in Budd Lake.
The township acquired the property through a sheriff’s sale and is now offering it for residential use with a minimum opening bid of $775,000.
The property includes a historic single-family home with approximately 3,362 square feet of living space, featuring three bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms and a private four-acre pond. The site also contains remnants of the former foundry mill associated with the historic Tarn Mill.
According to township officials, the property is zoned RRAA and offers a secluded setting with mature trees and open space while remaining within convenient access of major highways.
Township officials said the goal of the sale is to return the property to private ownership and place it back on the municipal tax rolls.
The property will be sold subject to the terms and conditions outlined in the township’s official Notice of Sale and bid package. Prospective buyers are encouraged to conduct their own due diligence regarding zoning, development potential, utility availability, environmental conditions and other factors affecting the property.
