Driver killed in crash involving tractor-trailer in Somerset County

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Somerset County) — A driver was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in Somerset County, according to Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald.

The crash occurred on February 1 at around 2:49 a.m. on South Middlebush Road near Jacques Lane in Franklin Township, McDonald said.

A 28-year-old woman from North Plainfield, the driver and sole occupant of a 2020 orange Dodge Charger, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of a 2008 black Volvo tractor-trailer, also the sole occupant, sustained no injuries, McDonald said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team and the Franklin Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau.
