Driver killed in crash with disabled garbage truck on I-80 in Morris County, state police say

ROXBURY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Pennsylvania man was killed Friday morning when his vehicle struck the rear of a disabled garbage truck on Interstate 80 East in Morris County, according to the New Jersey State Police.

Troopers responded to the crash at milepost 31.3 in Roxbury Township, NJSP spokesman Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said.

A preliminary investigation found that a Toyota sedan driven by Michael Murphy, 41, of Blakeslee, Pennsylvania, was traveling eastbound on I-80 when it struck an Autocar garbage truck that was disabled in the right lane, Lebron said.

Murphy sustained fatal injuries in the collision. The driver of the garbage truck suffered minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available, state police said.
