Driver seriously hurt, flown to hospital after rollover crash on I-78 in Hunterdon County

UNION TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A driver was flown to the hospital following a rollover crash on Interstate 78 in Hunterdon County Sunday night, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron.

The crash happened at around 7:07 p.m. on Interstate 78 eastbound at milepost 11.2 in Union Township, Lebron said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a GMC SUV, driven by a 44-year-old Cranford Township man, was traveling east on I-78 when the driver lost directional control, ran off the roadway to the right, and overturned, Lebron said.

As a result of the crash, the man suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital, Lebron said

The crash remains under investigation and no additional information was available, Lebron said.
