Driver seriously injured in Route 23 crash in Sussex County

WANTAGE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) — A 21-year-old Augusta man was seriously injured early Saturday in a two-vehicle crash on Route 23 in Wantage Township, according to the New Jersey State Police.

Troopers responded to the crash at 2:02 a.m. on Route 23 north near milepost 41.1, NJSP spokesman Trooper II Christopher Postorino said.

According to a preliminary investigation, the driver, identified as Dylan Andujar, was traveling north in a Chevrolet pickup when he lost control of the vehicle, ran off the right side of the road, struck a concrete wall and then hit a utility pole. The pickup then reentered the roadway, where the front of a Jeep SUV traveling north struck the Chevrolet, Postorino said.

Andujar sustained serious injuries in the collision and was taken to a local hospital. No other injuries were reported at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is being released, police said.
