Erratic driver crashes; charged with DWI in Morris County
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County man is facing several charges, including driving while intoxicated, following a report of erratic driving and then crashing in Mount Olive Township.
On Sept. 26, at around 5:28 p.m., an officer responded to a report of a Toyota allegedly driving erratically along Pleasant Hill Road. The officer located the vehicle on Main Street, where it had just been involved in a collision. Neither driver sustained injuries in the crash, authorities said.
The driver of the Toyota, identified as Glenn Cannon, 58, of Chester, allegedly showed signs of impairment during the officer’s conversation with him. Following this observation, Cannon was asked to exit his vehicle for field sobriety testing, police said.
Further investigation revealed that before colliding with another vehicle, Cannon had struck a telephone pole, a mailbox, and a street sign, police said.
Cannon was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI), reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, careless driving, failure to provide vehicle registration, and failure to produce insurance.
He was subsequently released to a sober driver pending a court appearance, police said.
