Fairleigh Dickinson University announces promotion of Frank N. Barra to Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

NEW JERSEY – Fairleigh Dickinson University has announced the promotion of Frank N. Barra to the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately.

Barra, who previously served as Senior Associate Vice President for Finance and Division I Athletics Administration, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of excellence to his new role.

Since joining FDU in 2017, Frank has demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic vision in various capacities. Frank oversaw the departments of accounting, resource allocation and planning, purchasing and credit and collections.

He also worked collaboratively with senior leadership and has provided strategic administrative support as the staff liaison to the Investment Subcommittee of the FDU Board of Trustees Finance, Audit and Budget Committee; the Investment Oversight Committee of the University’s retirement plan; and the University Planning and Budget Committee.

Furthermore, Frank has played an integral leadership role on various other major initiatives, including the Long-Range Financial Plan and the refinancing of the University’s long-term debt, along with providing strategic administrative oversight of the Division I athletics department. He is poised to build upon this foundation and manage even greater responsibilities.

A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Accountancy, Barra is a certified public accountant, having previously served FDU as one of his audit clients during is tenure at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Succeeding Barra as Associate Vice President for Finance is Catherine Bonilla, a FDU alumna with a BS and MS in accounting, who has previously served as University Controller and most recently as a part-time special adviser to the Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration.

Born and raised in Northwest NJ, Jay has a degree in Communications and has had a life-long interest in local radio and various styles of music. Jay has held numerous jobs over the years such as stunt car driver, bartender, voice-over artist, traffic reporter (award winning), NY Yankee maintenance crewmember and peanut farm worker. His hobbies include mountain climbing, snowmobiling, cooking, performing stand-up comedy and he is an avid squirrel watcher. Jay has been a guest on America’s Morning Headquarters,program on The Weather Channel, and was interviewed by Sam Champion.
