Police: Man entered vehicles, residences during Mount Olive burglary spree
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Budd Lake man was arrested after police said he entered or attempted to enter multiple vehicles and residences during a series of overnight incidents in Mount Olive Township.
According to police, the Mount Olive Police Communications Center received a 911 call at approximately 3:16 a.m. May 12 from a Pine Street resident who reported a Ring camera captured a man entering an unlocked vehicle on the property.
A second resident on Mount Olive Road also reported a theft from a motor vehicle, police said.
Officers searched the area and located a man identified as Blaise T. Wiget, 37, of Budd Lake, walking on Flanders Road.
Police said the investigation determined Wiget allegedly entered or attempted to enter 10 motor vehicles and two residences.
Authorities also alleged Wiget was found in possession of property taken from nine of the vehicles.
Wiget was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where authorities said he allegedly spit on a processing room desk and keyboard, exposing officers to bodily fluids.
He was charged with burglary, theft of movable property and throwing bodily fluids at police officers. He was then lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a court hearing.
Authorities are asking residents to review exterior security camera footage and contact the Mount Olive Police Investigations Division if they have additional information related to the investigation.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Police also reminded residents to keep vehicles locked when parked.
