Fire crews rescue horse on Route 57 in Mansfield Township

MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — Firefighters from Tri-County Volunteer Fire Company and Mansfield Township Fire Company No. 1 rescued a horse Thursday along Route 57 in Mansfield Township, officials said.

The departments were called about the incident on Feb. 5, 2026, in the 1700 block of Route 57, where responders found a horse in need of assistance. Hunterdon County Urban Search and Rescue was requested to the scene to assist with the operation, according to Tri-County Volunteer Fire Company.

Rescue crews placed straps beneath the horse in preparation for lifting it, officials said. Using coordinated efforts and specialized equipment, responders were able to safely upright the animal.

The rescue was completed with assistance from Bill’s Towing, which provided a boom lift from one of its tow trucks to help raise the horse, officials said.

No injuries to the horse were reported.
