Firefighters battle early morning house fire in Hunterdon County
WEST AMWELL TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Firefighters responded to an early morning residential structure fire Friday in West Amwell Township, according to the West Amwell Fire Company.
Emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 5:10 a.m. May 8 for a reported house fire with possible victims trapped, the fire company said.
Upon arrival, firefighters began an initial attack on the fire while additional crews entered the home to assist with suppression and overhaul operations.
Firefighters also worked from the rear of the structure to open up portions of the building as crews battled the blaze.
Authorities said crews worked for approximately 1½ hours before bringing the fire under control and fully extinguishing it.
No information about injuries was immediately released.
The fire remains under investigation by the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety State Fire Marshal’s Office, according to the fire company.
