Firefighters extinguish 2-alarm garage fire in Morris County

ROXBURY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Firefighters prevented a garage fire from spreading into the living area of a home in the Landing section of Roxbury Township late Saturday night, according to the Roxbury Township Fire Department.

Firefighters were dispatched to Laurie Road just before midnight Saturday, Aug. 29, for a reported residential structure fire.

The first arriving fire chief confirmed a working fire in the garage and requested a second alarm, bringing additional personnel and equipment to the scene, fire officials said.

The first arriving engine crew quickly began extinguishing the fire and was able to contain it to the garage, preventing the flames from spreading into the home’s living area, according to the department.

Mutual aid departments assisted at the scene and provided station coverage while crews operated.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Roxbury Fire Prevention Bureau.
