Firefighters extinguish dump truck fire in Sussex County

FRANKFORD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) — Emergency crews responded to a dump truck fire Wednesday morning in Frankford Township, according to officials.

The fire was reported at 7:54 a.m. at the intersection of David Drive and De Jager Drive. The Frankford Township Fire Department and Blue Ridge Rescue Squad were dispatched to the scene, where New Jersey State Police arrived first and confirmed active fire in the cab and engine compartment of the truck.

Firefighters arrived shortly after and quickly knocked down the bulk of the flames using a hose line. Additional crews assisted with overhaul efforts, using battery-powered tools to force open the driver’s door and hood to fully extinguish the fire.

Units remained on scene for approximately 45 minutes. The cause of the fire was not immediately known, and it is currently unknown if anyone was injured.
