Firefighters extinguish fire at The Black Horse Tavern & Pub in Morris County

MENDHAM BOROUGH, NJ (Morris County) – Firefighters extinguished a fire at The Black Horse Tavern & Pub in Mendham Borough early Monday morning.

At around 3:50 a.m., the Mendham Fire Department was dispatched for a reported fire alarm at The Black Horse Tavern & Pub, located at 1 West Main Street, according to the Mendham Fire Department.

Upon arrival, crews found a heavy smoke condition and a first-alarm was requested to bring in mutual aid from surrounding towns, officials said.

A line was stretched to the basement and a second line was pulled to the first floor and the fire was extinguished, authorities said.

No one was inside the building at the time of the fire. Units remained on scene for approximately two and a half hours checking for extension and extinguishing hot spots, officials said.

The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
