Firefighters knock down Washington Borough house fire; no injuries reported

WASHINGTON BOROUGH, N.J. (Warren County) — Firefighters from multiple Warren and Hunterdon County departments responded Sunday morning to a multi-family house fire on the 100 block of East Washington Avenue, officials said.

At approximately 8:11 a.m. on November 2, Washington Fire Department and EMS were dispatched to the scene after police confirmed an active structure fire upon arrival. The incident was quickly upgraded to a first alarm at 8:17 a.m., bringing in additional fire units and cover assignments from surrounding departments.

Washington firefighters arrived within minutes and began fire suppression operations. Mutual aid companies from Tri-County, Hackettstown, Washington Township, Hampton, High Bridge, Mansfield Township, and Goodwill Fire joined the response.

Crews were able to knock down the fire rapidly and prevent it from spreading further. All occupants escaped the building safely before first responders arrived, and no injuries were reported.

The fire was declared under control at approximately 8:43 a.m. The cause of the blaze was not immediately released.
