Flemington man sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempted sexual assault, child abuse material

FLEMINGTON, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson announced that Daniel E. White, 54, of Flemington, was sentenced June 13 to 10 years in state prison under the No Early Release Act. White must serve 85% of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole and will be subject to Megan’s Law registration and parole supervision for life.

Superior Court Judge Christopher J. Garrenger handed down the sentence following White’s February 2025 guilty plea to second-degree attempted sexual assault and third-degree possession of child sexual abuse material.

The charges stem from a joint investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office and Flemington Borough Police Department. On June 20, 2024, police responded to White’s residence, where he admitted attempting to sexually assault a minor on multiple occasions and possessing several sexual abuse materials.

Prosecutor Robeson commended the sentence and the work of all involved in the case. “As our courts have recognized, crimes involving the sexual exploitation of children have a devastating impact and create serious consequences for the victims. Child pornography, in particular, revictimizes the children involved with each viewing of the same image or video,” she said.

Robeson also thanked the assistant prosecutor, investigators, partner agencies and the Office of Victim Witness Advocacy for their efforts.
