
Man charged with aggravated assault after early morning stabbing in Warren County
BELVIDERE, N.J. (Warren County) — A Warren County man has been charged with multiple offenses, including aggravated assault, following an early morning stabbing in Belvidere, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.
Officers with the Belvidere Police Department responded at approximately 1:09 a.m. May 5 to the 300 block of Front Street for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, they found a victim suffering from stab wounds to the back, arm and hand, authorities said.
Investigators determined the incident was isolated and involved individuals known to one another.
Jacob Carom, 35, of Belvidere, was charged on complaint warrants with aggravated assault, two counts of terroristic threats, escape, unlawful possession of a weapon and a disorderly persons offense related to possession of a digital scale and suspected methamphetamine, the prosecutor’s office said.
Carom was lodged in the Warren County Correctional Center pending court proceedings. A detention hearing is expected to take place during the week of May 6, authorities said.
Second-degree charges carry a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in state prison, while third-degree offenses carry up to five years. Fourth-degree charges carry up to 18 months, and disorderly persons offenses carry a maximum of six months in the county jail.
The investigation was conducted by the Belvidere Police Department with assistance from the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, Washington Township Police Department, New Jersey State Police and Pennsylvania State Police.
