GoFundMe launched for Morris County family after fire destroys home

KINNELON BOROUGH, N.J. (Morris County) — A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support a Kinnelon family of five whose home was destroyed in a house fire Saturday on Caitlin Court in Kinnelon Borough.

Melanie and Michael Lombardo and their three sons lost their home and nearly all of their possessions in the fire, according to the GoFundMe page organized by Kim Shadek. The family escaped safely but fled with only the clothes they were wearing. Three vehicles were also destroyed in the blaze.

In the fundraiser description, Shadek described the Lombardos as neighbors known for helping others and supporting the community in times of need. The family now faces the challenge of rebuilding from scratch and is in need of clothing, school supplies, sports equipment and basic household essentials.

As of the time of this writing, the fundraiser has raised $56,093 of the $70,000 goal. Those wishing to contribute can visit GoFundMe.

The cause of the fire was not immediately available.
