GoFundMe started for Warren County family whose house was destroyed in fire

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A devastating two-alarm fire that broke out Tuesday morning has left a local family without a home, prompting neighbors and friends to launch a GoFundMe campaign to help them rebuild.

The blaze occurred around 10:04 a.m. on April 8 at a residence in the 100 block of East Front Street. Firefighters from the Washington Township Fire Department (WTFD) arrived on scene to find heavy fire and smoke engulfing the home and a nearby detached garage. A second-alarm was quickly requested, bringing in additional resources and manpower from neighboring departments.

While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, the impact has already been felt deeply. Grace, a resident of the destroyed home, escaped safely with her family — but they lost everything in the fire.

In response, Erica Moreno and Carolyne Smith, neighbors of the family, have organized a GoFundMe campaign to support Grace during this incredibly difficult time.

“Our neighbor, Grace, and her family have recently experienced an unimaginable tragedy,” the fundraiser reads. Their home was completely destroyed in a devastating fire, leaving them with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Thankfully, they are safe, but the loss of their home and belongings has left them in a difficult situation.”

The funds raised will go directly toward helping the family cover essential costs such as temporary housing, clothing, and basic necessities.

“Any donation, big or small, will go directly towards helping Grace with the immediate costs of rebuilding their life – from temporary housing and clothing to essential supplies,” the organizers wrote.
