Gov. Sherrill nominates Morris, Hunterdon county prosecutors for new five-year terms
TRENTON, N.J. — Gov. Mikie Sherrill announced Friday the nominations of Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll and Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée Robeson to serve new five-year terms leading their respective offices.
Both prosecutors have served in their positions since 2021 and would begin new terms if their nominations are approved by the state Senate.
“Robert Carroll and Renée Robeson have shown unwavering dedication to public safety and the people they serve,” said Sherrill. “Their experience, judgment, and integrity make them exceptional choices to continue leading these offices. I look forward to seeing the positive impact their leadership has on Morris and Hunterdon counties.”
Carroll has served as Morris County prosecutor since 2021. Before taking office, he was director of the law department for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, where he oversaw legal operations throughout the state.
His legal career includes investigating organized crime, handling special prosecutions and working on complex criminal cases.
Carroll earned a bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University and a law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law. He also holds an executive certificate in leadership development from Rutgers University’s School of Management and Labor Relations.
Robeson has served as Hunterdon County prosecutor since 2021. Before her appointment, she spent 17 years as an assistant prosecutor with the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, where she led trial teams and supervised the Special Victims and Megan’s Law units.
Robeson graduated from West Virginia University and earned her law degree from Widener University School of Law.
She also received the Mercer County Victim Witness Advocacy Award for Outstanding Service on Behalf of Crime Victims and for her cooperation with the Mercer County Office of Victim Advocacy.
Both nominations require state Senate approval before Carroll and Robeson can begin their new five-year terms.
