Hackettstown crepe shop closes after owner suffers stroke

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – Enjoy Creperie, located at 113 Main Street in Hackettstown, has closed its doors after nearly ten years in business, according to a post on the store’s Facebook page.

The family shared that the decision to close came after Samy Dawood, one of the shop’s owners, suffered a brain stem stroke in December. Doctors diagnosed him with “locked-in syndrome,” but the family noted that he has been showing signs of improvement.

Samy and his wife Amal were the sole owners and operators of the crepe shop. Amal has since stepped away from the business to care for her husband full-time. “While closing the shop has been a heartbreaking decision, family has to come first,” the family wrote.

They thanked the community for its support over the years, saying the shop “was built with love” and that the kindness and loyalty from customers “meant the world” to them.

A GoFundMe has been set up by friends of the family to help with hospital, rehabilitation, and ongoing medical expenses. The link to the fundraiser was included in the post: https://gofund.me/13e05131

The Dawood family expressed hope that circumstances may change and that they may be able to reopen the business in the future.
