Hackettstown launches holiday ‘Deck the House’ contest with prizes for most festive displays

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — Hackettstown is inviting the public to take a driving tour through town this holiday season to view a series of homes decorated for the community’s annual “Deck the House” photo contest.

The contest invites households across five neighborhoods — Willow Grove, the Historic District/Centenary area, West Valley View/E. Prospect, the Mitchell Road area and College View — to submit photos or videos up to 15 seconds showcasing their outdoor holiday displays. A People’s Choice category will also be awarded. Winners in each section will receive BID Bucks and a lawn sign recognizing their display as the most original and festive in their neighborhood.

Residents must register and email submissions to socialmedia@hackettstownbid.com by Dec. 8. Judging will take place the week of Dec. 8, according to the Hackettstown Business Improvement District.

Organizers say the contest not only sparks holiday cheer but also encourages the community to explore local businesses. “Drive through Hackettstown to see the beautifully decorated homes — guaranteed to put you in the holiday spirit. Make it a night and hit one of Hackettstown’s awesome restaurants and breweries!” the BID announced.

The event is sponsored by the Hackettstown BID, the Town of Hackettstown, and the Hackettstown Police Department. More information is available at hackettstownbid.com.
