Hunterdon Central art students create mural for Hunterdon Medical Center maternity unit

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Maternity Department at Hunterdon Medical Center is receiving a colorful new mural, hand-painted by student artists from Hunterdon Central Regional High School’s National Art Honor Society.

Under the guidance of art teachers Lindsay Hopkins and Nicolle Schuster, students are putting the final touches on the mural, which will soon be unveiled. The project was created in partnership with the Hunterdon Health Auxiliary as part of the A Star is Born program — a fundraising initiative that allows families to honor the birth of a new baby with a donation. Each child’s name is then added to the mural, forming a lasting tribute to the newest members of the Hunterdon Health community.

The student artists contributing to the mural include Kimberly Komosinski, Lila Allorto, Francesca Edgar, Cycy Lustado, Lucas Romano, Isabella Barone, Mathew Kavchok, William Schott, Kathryn Connaughton, Shelby Manning, Gabriela Callejas, and Kam Ebright.

“Their work will soon bring a vibrant and joyful touch to the Maternity Department for all to enjoy,” the Auxiliary said in a statement, thanking the students for their creativity and commitment to the project.
