Hunterdon County celebrates Law Day with community quilt

2025 Law Day Theme: “Out of Many, One”

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – Hunterdon County Commissioner Director John Lanza last week attended the 2025 Law Day event celebrating this year’s theme, “Out of Many, One” – centered on the vital role the Constitution and legal system provide in fostering unity and progress.

Central to the event was the assembling of a Law Day quilt, a collaborative project by local organizations who contributed a square for the quilt, representative of their unique roles and contributions to the community.

Director Lanza expressed his support in the event, stating, “Law Day serves as a moment of reflection for our community, bringing us together to honor the principles that underpin our democracy. The community quilt symbolizes the power of unity and the values we share – telling a story that resonates with our shared history and collective vision for the future.”

The community-focused event included a panel discussion: “Local Resources for the Public Interest and Common Good”, followed by the award of scholarships and assembling of the quilt. A representative from each attending organization placed their square on the quilt.

The celebration concluded with refreshments and was hosted by the American Bar Association, at the Hunterdon County Justice Center, in Flemington.

Quilt kits were distributed to participants by Samantha Iraca, Community Outreach Liaison for the Hunterdon County Prosecutor Office, ensuring that all necessary materials and guidance were readily available prior to the event.

“The assembling of the Law Day quilt is a great project that captures the tremendous civic engagement and unity across Hunterdon County,” Lanza said.
